Text: Tom Scheelings; musick & voice: Willem Scheelings 1e release on CD: 16 nov 1999 This is a weird song: the ridiculous text is written by my brother Tom Scheelings and only slightly modified by me (Willem Scheelings) to fit into the rhytm. It inspired me immediately to make music(k) to this text; it also presented an interesting opportunity to modify my voice in a number of ways; most appealing to my ego was to multiply myself in a 3-voice weird choir. We really don't know why he wrote this text: my brother is a quite good cook! He discovered that in Paris is a restaurant where it is completely dark; the customers are blindfolded but the waiters and the cook are blind, so they know their way around. Dining there must end up in a real mess. The sight of this food might be horrible when the lights are on... Anyway, we laughed our heads off when the song was finally completed. And so may you! Cooking Horrible Food for the Blind I wanna be a chef I wanna be a master chef I like to cook and fry To boil and bake and grind For people that are blind For people that are blind Serving food for blind people Horrible food for blind people Cheap fod for blind people It's a lot of fun And easy profits won A menue made for them So special and extravagant Five courses in a row With coffee at the end For people that are blind For people that are blind For starters I serve hazelworm Slightly cooked in sour cream Then ardvarksoup with rum Spiced with peppers - and bubble gum Especially my humpflug Is an overwhelmimg treat A giant bowl of Dungla With slightly greenish meat I am a funny guy My hat is high, my wine is dry Chef with just one specialty That's always on my mind Cooking horrible food Cooking horrible food Cooking Horrible food For the blind...
